BIO

"His souful voice is that of a thoughtful storyteller who has an appreciation for the trials his protagonists face and carries with it a hope that they'll get out all right."

-Listen Up Denver-

Eric Davis (aka Feathered Mason) is a longtime musician, born a couple decades too late to a French mother and Midwestern father deep in the heart of Illinois. While early influences were steeped in blues and psychedelic rock, regular trips to France listening to his twin uncles sing harmony & strum guitar secured a place in his heart for Folk, Country and Roots music. Before leaving Illinois in his early 20's, he co-founded Peoria jam circuit darlings Bonanza Jellybean, and among a host of other band projects over the years, went on to blaze trendsetting sonic territory with The Whale Tales in the front range of Colorado.  Many miles and years later - after musical stints and educations in Kentucky, Wisconsin, California, Minnesota and Tennessee - Eric finally realized he could not outrun his own musical polyglot persona; he needed the freedom to explore the timeless art of songmaking in his own way and find his true musical voice. Hence, Feathered Mason was born, slinging a shiny blue resonator guitar, a banjo on his back, Ostrich leather Texas boots, and tapping his foot on a handmade wooden stompbox. First you might tune in for the cosmic country-blues finger picking, but soon you realize the song itself is taking you on a journey, the words are leading the way and the melody buoys you further, and you know you're being lifted by some strange and beautiful wings. Such is the hard to categorize, genre-crossing music that Feathered Mason performs for those lucky enough to catch him live.
Since 2019 he has been recording and producing from his home studio in the countryside of Tennessee, starting with 2021's Bow and Arrow Days, followed by several singles that showcase the evolving pyschedelic-country sound he continues to experiment with and craft. He's currently at work on a concept album inspired the Great American West.
